Is SEO something that you can simply learn online? Is there a course available? Degree even? Without sounding cliche, I've found the only place to learn SEO is via the school of hard knocks (wow that was cliche). I learnt SEO from failing a thousand times, then nailing one thing. Failing another thousand times, then nailing another. The key for me was to fail so many thousands of times that eventually I nailed a fair few things! There was no 'course' that...

Again, in what seems like the millionth update for Panda, Google has released its 21st reiteration of its initially feared update. The new one is supposed to affect .4% of world wide search queries and about 1.1% of US based search queries. Nothing too interesting or significant to note as we have seen this before.. about 21 times. It seems like a monthly update that Google is doing. The key is to keep to unique content flowing and stay away from low quality...

No doubt you have seen it. You type something into Google search and the usual results come up. However over the last few months you have noticed more and more what looks like little icons of people showing up. You probably haven't even thought too much about it. But what if I told you these little pictures saw a 40% increase in SERP CTR? Does that make you think differently? Some webmasters and SEO's have noticed a definite increase in CTR when using...

Spinning off from my last post is Google sneakily allowing 'Indefinite' ad rotation back onto its Adwords platform. Not sure why they didn't push this aspect outside of their usual Tweet and among their run down on the official blog. Considering the amount of uproar removing the even rotation setting previously when they limited it to 30/90 days or when they offered webmasters and campaign managers the ability to opt out of these settings. As reported yesterday Google has made some amendments...

One of the first things I would change about the way Adwords was set up as a default would be to change the 'optimise  for clicks' default setting for Ad rotation. I've been irritated by it several times in past posts and Google's reluctance to allow us to rotate ads evenly for an indefinite period of time. As a tiny step forward, when you are using the conversion optimiser or enhanced CPC, Google has changed this setting from the default and...

Oh if only I got $1 for every time a client said to me they want to be No. 1 for a particular word whether it be PPC or SEO. I'd be smiling ear to ear right now. The problem is that being No.1 isn't always the best way to go when you are paying for traffic. In terms of SEO and free traffic then go nuts, the higher the better, not much to lose there. But when you are paying...

Where do all the recent Google changes leave old school SEO techniques such as Article Marketing, Footer Links, Widgets and other traditional well known techniques? Have you given up article marketing because of Panda? Did you drop your Widget or theme distribution to escape or fix up a Penguin penalty? More importantly what is Google's stance on these traditional techniques? Well here is a recent article by Matt Cutts explaining where they all fit into the equation From what Matt says, Google...

Google has teamed up with Samsung to bring us a fast, light and cheap laptop.. assuming 'us' and 'everyone' are limited to those in only certain countries. Currently you can purchase the Chromebook directly if you are in the US, UK, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, South Korea and the Netherlands.. but not here in Australia. Shame because it doesnt look so bad: Runs on Chrome OS Just over 1kg 2cms think Over 6hrs Battery Life 100GB space using Google Drive (Free for 2 years) Under 10s boot...

I have no problem with Joomla. In fact I think its a great robust platform that is easily scalable with the right designer and programmer on board. I also know in terms of SEO, out of the box, its no Wordpress. Nor is it as easy as adding a plugin and doing a few tweaks here and there and you are on your way. Joomla needs to be nurtured like a little puppy. It needs to be taught not to wee...
